Technical Project Manager
Overview
The Project Manager will guide projects to successful
completion while producing satisfied customers, maintaining profit
margin and facilitating team growth. The scope of responsibility
includes staff, budget, schedule and quality. The Project Manager is
accountable for establishing and achieving project goals through the
efficient use and development of available resources, planning tools
and opportunities.
Possessing knowledge of the organization, the Project Manager will
need to ensure co-ordination between diverse teams and external
vendors across multiple service offerings to ensure that projects
complete according to strict timescales. In addition to direction,
the individual will be responsible for creating and updating project
plans, and collation of any and all documentation relating to
planning and implementation.
Responsibilities
- Directly accountable for the completion of the established project goals by insuring tasks and client deliverables are accomplished within the defined time frame and budget parameters.
- Gathers project requirements so they are captured in the Statement Of Work
- Reviews proposals to ensure correctness.
- Generates cost sheets and provides pricing for incoming proposals.
- Works closely with managers and project team members to assess/meet market goals.
- Implements, enforces, and may help develop strategies and guidelines.
- Responsible for monitoring/tracking project progress and provides weekly/timely status to customers as a project progresses.
- Responds to plan deviation, including notifying appropriate internal staff as soon as issues are identified.
- Schedules new projects
o One schedule for Customer Deliverables
o One schedule for Internal Deliverables - Reviews all deliverables to insure they are technically accurate and provide appropriate business context for the customer.
- Identifies potential for additional opportunities and follow on work with customer based on customers needs as identified during current project.
- Provides customer with deliverables as soon as they are ready and notifies Accounting when deliverable is accepted to start the invoicing process. Also notifies Accounting when a project is delayed.
- Coordinates communication between sales and project team to ensure optimal value add to customer.
- Leads postmortems with customers and project teams when the project is complete.
- Identify problem areas and solutions to maximize service offerings.
Qualifications
The demands of the position will be to ensure that all demarcation
points within the project are documented, and that the groups or
individuals concerned with the success of key elements within a
project are aware of responsibilities. The ability to multi-task is
key to the individual, as responsibility for diverse and varied
projects will be implied. The individual must possess a willingness
to work under strict time pressures, adapting to the changing needs
of the organization and the varying requirements of internal and
external customers.
Other Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Project and Office
- Proficient in Visio (desired)
- Firm understanding of Software Development Lifecycle
- Firm understanding of application security
- Proven experience leading teams to successfully deliver high value offerings
- Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
- Comfortable in self-directed environment
- Ability to effectively organize and manage customer-facing meetings and serve as client liaison
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of experience in IT industry
- Experience as a project manager leading multiple concurrent projects
- PMI Certification and/or other formal training preferred
